Tradition and Quality

In the heart of Tuscany, Podere Vecciano covers about 10 hectares in the territory of the municipality of Chianciano, in the province of Siena.
A territory that is considered one of the most beautiful and interesting in Tuscany due to its artistic, natural and culinary expressions.

It is with the same drive towards excellence and wonder that our family has been taking care of this land for over 150 years.
And it is with the desire to improve more and more, that the last generation has invested in knowledge, new methods of cultivation and technologies for the production and conservation of oil and wine.

This is how Podere Vecciano is able to present today high quality products on the market.

In the heart of the Chiancianese countryside, between the hills of the Val di Chiana and the Val d’Orcia grow our olive trees, comprising the Leccino, Moraiolo, Frantoio and Correggiolo varieties for an extra virgin olive oil with high organoleptic characteristics. An intense fruity aroma with notes of artichoke and almond for the nose, typical of the great Tuscan oils. On the palate, a medium bitter and spicy taste. For the eyes: a golden yellow colour with green reflections. Analysis show very low levels of acidity and a high number of polyphenols.

Ours is a result obtained through working on each phase with the aim of keeping all the high organoleptic characteristics of the olives intact: soils free of weeds without using pesticides, organic fertilizers and cupric products for pest control. Only mature and healthy olives are picked by hand. The oil is obtained through a cold pressing process performed within a few hours of harvesting and is naturally decanted and stored at a controlled temperature (15ºC/18ºC all year) in special steel barrels covered in nitrogen to avoid contact with the air and with light.

Our vines are rooted in the hills of the Chiancianese countryside, between the Val di Chiana and the Val d’Orcia: an ideal climate for the production of their fruits. The vineyards that today give life to our labels are part of the ancient cultural tradition of the Montepulciano area, which has always been the home of great wines.

The Podere Vecciano winery has added, alongside the classic Sangiovese, a vineyard of the Nobile di Montepulciano and Brunello, the Syrah and shortly also the Merlot. As regards white wines, alongside the Trebbiano and the Malvasia varieties, fundamental for the production of our pasito, we are also planting Chardonnay..

The Vecciano (an IGT Tuscany red and white wine) comes into being after a careful vinification and a controlled conservation, respectful of local traditions but with all the technological innovation useful to guarantee the quality and food safety of the product. In the cellar we use special steel barrels to preserve the wine under argon before passing the part chosen for aging to oak barrels (Barrique and Tonneau).

Podere Vecciano is the result of a shared passion in the family and can become a 360° experience: staying in the old family home, visiting the farm and buying oil and wine.

  • Stay in the heart of the medieval village of Chianciano Terme, in one of the Antica Dimora Angelotti apartments: a family palace of the 17th century.
  • Visit the farm: the vineyards, the olive groves and the cellar are full of stories to tell. It is possible to organise individual or group visits to discover them.
  • Direct sales of products: buy oil and wine directly in the territory where they come form.
